KLA director in road crash

KLA director Stuart Little had a close shave when his Vauxhall Cavalier, in which he was a passenger, was involved in a collision with another car just outside Amboise, France on 30 July. Fortunately Stuart emerged with no more than a couple of damaged ribs and no other person suffered major injury. Less fortunately his beloved car, which he had owned from new since 1992, was a write-off (see picture above left).

Stuart is now the proud owner of a rather more modern Vauxhall Vectra (pictured above right).

Recently completed work

In July we completed work on the Juan Martin promotional DVD for FlamencoVision. For this job our new bulk printer came in very useful as FlamencoVision required 200 copies each of PAL and NTSC versions of the DVD.

In August KLA welcomed a number of new customers including the US conductor Ryan Haskins for whom we also produced a promotional DVD.

Meanwhile as ever we dealt with a flow of 'film-to-DVD' jobs (see also 'New Purchases' overleaf) and duplication and editing work.

Current Work

Following completion of the Juan Martin promotional DVD FlamencoVision have asked us to produce a commercial DVD featuring the guitarist in concert. In addition to compiling existing recordings from his more recent concerts KLA will also be shooting new material featuring Juan Martin introducing his featured compositions. KLA is presently discussing the format for the DVD with FlamencoVision and expects to start the main work for this in November.

Future Productions/Work

Chi Kung College, for whom we recently completed a promotional/demonstration DVD, have asked to produce two more DVDs. This work is slated for November/December.

Meanwhile we are about to start work on major facilities jobs for two of our longstanding customers involving the transfer of video tape to DVD and Mini Disc to audio CD.

New Purchases

KLA has recently acquired a new Sony HDV HCR-HC7 camcorder to act as a third HDV camcorder on shoots and as a studio HDV tape player.

KLA has also acquired a fantastic new Yelco Super 8 sound projector to add to its already significant collection of Standard 8, Super 8 and 16mm projectors. This will help to ensure that KLA can continue to provide back up in depth should any of its projectors fail whilst on film transfer duty.

Hot News

Our sister enterprise Swanrose Video Training and Consultancy (SVTC) is in well-advanced discussion with a leading light in the world of videography about a possible link up of our respective services. If these negotiations are successful this will enable not only a widening of the range of courses that SVTC can deliver but also the delivery of 'large group' courses which SVTC has hitherto been unable to offer.

Meanwhile in addition to the usual range of private students SVTC has acquired some new corporate customers including Clifford Chance LLP, YouthNet UK and Teachers Enterprise in Religious Education.
